Matt Sherwin
Based in New York City, Matt Sherwin's credits include Sound Design/Original Music for the widely acclaimed, Obie Award- winning BORN BAD at Soho Rep. Other productions include the Drama Desk-nominated THE ACCOMPLICES at The New Group, A SPALDING GRAY MATTER and CRITICAL DARLING (The New Group), ONE THOUSAND BLINKS (theNEST @ 59e59), MACBETH (Lincoln Center Institute), WHITE PEOPLE (Ensemble Studio Theatre), ROUGH SKETCH (rUDE mECHANICALS @ 59e59), THE AWESOME DANCE (Speranza Theatre Company @ The Cherry Pit), CYMBELINE and THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival), HERESY/PROGRESS (Immigrants' Theatre Project), 365 PLAYS: WEEK 6 BY SUZAN-LORI PARKS (Public Theater), and TWENTY-ONE (Spring Theatreworks). Matt also recently served as Guest Artist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he performed Foley Artist duties for David Mamet's THE WATER ENGINE (which was broadcast live on NPR) and served as Sound Designer/Composer for THE BLUEST EYE, directed by acclaimed Congo Square Theatre Artistic Director Derrick Sanders.
In addition to his theatre work, Matt is an accomplished singer-songwriter: the writer/producer of two albums, COLD READER and 12:30 SONGS. he is the recipient of multiple Honor Awards from Billboard and the Songwriters Resource Network. He has performed at venues across the city and beyond including Pianos, Joe's Pub, CB's Gallery, The Bottom Line and Lincoln Center.
Matt received his MFA from the NYU/Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing program.
